Laser Hair Removal
Rivers Hospital is now offering a new Laser Hair Removal service
which is virtually painless, safe and effective. Fast treatment
with proven clinical results.
What is it used for?
For hair removal and long term hair reduction but without the
mess of waxing and creams. In can be used on most skin
types.
Dark hairs are most easily treated due to the large
concentration of dark melanin in these.
Very fair hair has less melanin and consequently less heat is
produced making it slightly less certain of permanent destruction
of the hair follicles.
Grey (white) hair has almost no melanin and cannot be
efficiently treated.
How is the treatment carried out?
During treatment you have a light gel called optical gel applied
to the skin surface to aid the gliding of the laser head across the
skin. The laser is is placed in contact with the skin and the laser
light is passed as the head is moved across the area to be
treated.
How long does treatment take?
The facial treatment usually takes 10 minutes whereas both legs
and/or an entire back take approximately 1 to
11/2 hours.
How many treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments can vary but for most patients a course
of 6-8 treatments are sufficient to remove all hairs on the
body.
Facial Hair may require more treatments.
All consultations and treatments are carried out by trained
practitioners in a clean, professional and friendly environment
registered by the Healthcare Commission. The treatment is suitable
for both men and women. Most areas can be treated including facial,
underarm, back, legs and bikini lines.
A consultation is carried out before any
treatment is considered so you can ask any questions you may have
and a patch test will be arranged to eliminate any hypersensitivity
to the Soprano laser.
